Dental Xray Sensor

Digital periapical and dental bitewing radiographs add a high value to any dental practice.  As with most dental imaging equipment, there is a great benefit with a moderate price tag associated with any dental sensor.  Not having Dental Xray Sensor technology available to your patients carries a much higher price tag.  In today’s fast paced world the old adage time is money has never been truer.  Making patients wait for outdated dental x rays from the time-consuming film process is an unacceptable practice.  Digital dental imaging techniques are faster and more clear than traditional film.

Before taking any image and prior to use
Disinfect the Dental Xray Sensor before each application by gently wiping with a proven disinfectant.  DO NOT AUTOCLAVE the dental sensor or soak the sensor or its connecting pieces in any type of liquid.
When taking images
Gently apply a plastic sheath onto the dental sensor without applying excessive pressure, Do NOT Tear.  Use a sensor holder or mount in between taking images. NEVER allow a patient to bite directly on the sensor or cable.  Clamping the sensor with a hemostat or gripping device is another huge NEGATIVE.  Cables on or around the floor will eventually get tripped on, essentially destroying the connecting parts.

Be careful when removing the sensor from the sheath.  DON’T tug or pull on the cable when removing from the holder or sheath.  Proper storage is imperative without coiling the cable.  Wall mounts keep the sensor cable from getting crimped in a drawer.  Dangling cables attract accidents like honey does bees.  Loosely laying them on a countertop or any elevated area is another situation that makes them prone to swiping and knocking airborne.  A sensor doesn’t like to fly.  A simple two-handed procedure is the best method for disconnecting the sensor.  Grasping both the cable connection and the interface then gently pull them apart.  When reconnecting the USB use a gentle manner and don’t force the plug.  99% of USB ports take the USB chassis with the USB symbol facing upward unless the USB port was installed upside down. Test any new PC’s with this delicate approach to determine the proper orientation.  Make notes of any PC or USB interface that has an upside down receiving port.
